Peter Sterios is an internationally recognized author, yoga teacher (ERYT-500), and architect. He is the founder of LEVITYoGA™, MANDUKA™, and creator of the popular yoga DVD series “Gravity & Grace” which is one of YOGA JOURNAL’s “top 15 yoga DVDs of all time”. For three years (2011-2013) Peter taught yoga at the White House for Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity initiatives. In 2018, he was invited to the Pentagon to share his ideas about yoga’s therapeutic effects for the US Marine Corps.
Peter's first book Gravity & Grace: How to Awaken Your Subtle Body and the Healing Power of Yoga was selected as the Nautilus Book Awards 2019 Gold Medal Winner in the "Health, Healing, Wellness & Vitality" category.
For those who teach LEVITYoGA™, our goal is to create simple language for communicating general principles so those who practice and study can connect with themselves in an authentic way – not from a place imposed by a rigid technique, script, or series of movements, but through a re-discovery of our own intuition. With subtle encouragement during classes or in trainings, students can “stretch” into the intuitive parts of their mind, and re-establish confidence in personal discretion – the ability to make appropriate choices in how we move, how we think, and how we relate to ourselves and others.

Iyengar Yoga has been a foundation in my life since the mid-1990s. Known for its focus on precision, alignment, sequencing, and the use of simple props, it is adaptable for people of any age, of any body type or with limitations of some sort. I am a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher at the Junior Intermediate 2 level.
My background is a biological/medical science one, and that brings a point-of-difference and depth to my teaching. So too does my other 'job' ... a teacher of anatomy and physiology courses for yoga teachers and teacher trainees. The human body is a wondrous thing, and yoga a valuable tool to explore and nourish it.
Thursdays @ 5:15 - 6:30pm
Hatha, Yin & Restorative Yoga
Yoga has travelled through life with me since childhood, like a long-term friend who is always there when you need them. Hatha, Yin and Restorative yoga are my main practices with a focus on connecting to and deepening a conscious awareness of breath, movement, strength and stillness.
Knowing that yoga can transform lives, I am constantly inspired as I watch people build confidence, resilience and joy. I love sharing and incorporating my years of health experience, anatomical and injury knowledge into creating classes that are supportive of functional movement for now and for life.
Since completing the IYTA (NZ) Introduction to Yoga Certificate and Yoga Alliance International 200hr Certificate Courses, my curious mind has led me to complete Yin Yoga training and numerous workshop and online trainings. Yoga weaves its magic into every part of life - it’s not just about what happens on the mat, in the studio.
Mondays - Hatha Moves @ 5:30 - 6:45pm - beginning 2 May
Wednesdays - Yin Restore @ 5:30 - 6:45pm - beginning 4 May
My passion is for creating spaces for self-reflection, discovery, healing and connection. I find this in all areas of my work, and I’m at my best when I bring it to all areas of my life. As a yoga and Qoya instructor, I meet each student where they are in their moment, and allow them an opportunity to recognize that their greatest teacher is within.
QOYA is based on the idea that through movement, we remember.
We remember, as women, our essence is wise wild and free
WISE ~ Calls on the wisdom of yoga, rest, meditation, stillness
WILD ~ Invokes the creative expression of dance, to move how we feel
FREE ~ The choice of freedom: to feel pleasure in our bodies, to find the places that feel good
Fridays: 10:00am - 12:00pm - 8 April, 13 May, 10 June, 8 July 2022
I started practicing Nia in 2009, through a friend in the Cotswolds UK. It was the start of an amazing journey, travelling the world to train with wonderful people and bringing me to where I am today - teaching and sharing the practice of Nia in my home town of Nelson.
What is Nia? Ask any Nia practitioner to describe Nia and you will get a number of answers. More than just a workout, Nia fills a void where other traditional fitness programs fall short. A powerful fusion of dance, martial art, and mindfulness practices, Nia is a holistic movement & wellness practice addressing each aspect of your life - body, mind and soul.
Nia has a class for everybody, regardless of age, health or fitness level.
Using a system of 52 simple moves, each Nia workout delivers full-body conditioning; leaving you energised, mentally clear, and emotionally balanced.
Practiced barefoot, Nia's purpose is to inspire and guide people to listen to the wisdom of the body, choose movement that feels good, and find connection
Nia is for every person who desires to discover, explore, unleash, and enhance their individual potential to live a healthy and meaningful life.
